Copper Hill Golf Academy is proud to be an active supporter of the Connecticut PGA Junior Golf Association and the Connecticut PGA Junior Golf Tour. Copper Hill Golf Academy owner and PGA Professional Paul Banks is the Junior Golf Tour Tournament Director for this tour.

In 2008 The Connecticut PGA Junior Golf Tour consists of 16 professionally managed one day junior golf tournaments, which take place from the end of June to the end of August. The dates and locations for these events is listed below.

Membership in the Connecticut PGA Junior Golf Association is open to all boys and girls, ages 10-17, who reside, or go to school, within the boundaries of the section (includes Western Massachusetts). There are no handicap requirements to join, but members must pass a USGA ® Rules of Golf Test and must be certified by a PGA Professional.

The mission of the PGA Junior Golf Association is to develop future golfers by introducing young people to the integrity and values of the game through the camaraderie and spirit of the TOUR competitions. The TOUR consists of 16 tournaments held from late June through mid-August. The TOUR Championship, the Jack Kelly PGA Junior Tournament of Champions, will be held on Saturday, September 6, at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton, Conn.

The section utilizes BlueGolf ® as the online tournament registration and membership tool. In addition to the TOUR, the section will hold the annual Junior Connecticut PGA Championship on Wednesday and Thursday, July 30-31, at Timberlin Golf Course in Kensington, Conn. Applications are now available on the section website. JGA membership is not required to enter.

The timeline for registering for 2008 membership is as follows:

(i) Annual online registration opens April 14 at www.ctpga.com - $75 annual fee to join
(ii) Membership letters and applications are sent out to the registrants to obtain the signature of a PGA Professional verifying certification
(iii) 3rd Annual Junior Golf Association Orientation on Saturday, June 7, at East Catholic High School in Manchester, Conn.
(iv) First PGA Junior Golf TOUR event on Tuesday, June 24

A master schedule of events for junior golfers, including not only the TOUR events, but also other tournaments held within the CT and other nearby sections that are conducted by other organizations, will be maintained on this website (copperhillgolf.com). One of the 10 PGA of America Junior Golf Series national tournaments will take place at The Ranch Golf Club on July 7-9. Local players will be eligible to enter. Hartford Golf Club is hosting the 2008 U.S. Junior Girls Championship on July 21-26.
