Junior Golf League This unique league offers benefits for many different levels of players - juniors who have played on the course who would like to experience a more organized tournament format, tournament players who want to get some informal playing practice in a loose tournament environment.  The goal is to provide a bridge for developing players between the process of learning golf and the process of playing golf.   The league features different tournament experiences each week, ranging from Alternate Shot to Best Ball to Individual Events.

Each week PGA Professional Paul Banks or a Copper Hill Golf Academy staff member will conduct a 30-40 minute clinic before the round. The schedule for these clinics is listed next to the league date below.

The Copper Hill Academy Junior Golf League is held on Wednesdays from 12:30 to approximately 4:30. Individual players accumulate points each week, either as part of a winning team as an individual winner. The individual player with the highest cumulative point total is the winner of the League. Trophies will be awarded for the top 5 finishers. Golf will be played at Fox Run at Copper Hill Golf Course in East Granby.

Copper Hill Golf Academy staff will set up the tournament including pre-round scorecards and post-round scoring.

Does my child need equipment to participate?

Yes. If you do not currently have equipment, we rent junior sets (all sizes) for the week for an additional $5 charge for the day. Please call or check our online store as we have many options. It is important that the clubs are fit to your child, an improper fit will make for a frustrating experience.

Where can I purchase junior golf equipment?

You can purchase golf equipment through Copper Hill Golf Acaedemy at any of our locations or online at www.copperhillgolf.com/catalog in our opinion the time invested in choosing the right golf clubs is easily as important as the time invested in learning to play.

What should my child bring with him/her to the program?

We recommend a water bottle, a hat, sunscreen, and a positive attitude. Balls, tees, equipment are not included unless requested. We will provide a snack for after the round. Balls and tees for use on the golf course are available at the Academy or in our online store.

What is the day's schedule?

Players may arrive early to warm up or hit balls. Check-in will begin at 12:00 noon. If you are pre-enrolled, you can get your tee time online at copperhillgolf.com We will conduct a short clinic each week at 12:30, tee times will generally begin just after 1:00. Parents should expect that their junior will be done playing approximately 2 1/2 hours after their tee time.

My child has significant playing experience. Is this program appropriate?

Our mission with the junior golf league is to provide semi-competitive playing experiences for those that have minimal to moderate playing experience. It is also a very good opportunity for more advanced players who currently play competitively to practice their 'competition' skills on the course.

Can beginners be in the league?

This is not a league for those who have never played golf. Players must have some golf experience, and preferably some instructional background.

Can I request that my child plays with a certain group of friends?

Because of the nature of some of the team events, and in the spirit of a 'golf league', we cannot guarantee requests like this. We will however, attempt to pair groups close to each other for car-pooling purposes.
