Future Pros (ages 5-8) is an introductory program designed to familiarize golf to kids with little or no golf experience. It is an ideal "first step" in fostering an interest in golf. We attempt to avoid technical instruction in this program, and  instead try to capture the interest of the kids with various non-competitive games, drills, and fun learning exercises. They will finish this program with an understanding of the purpose of the game of golf, some rules and etiquette, and hopefully a desire to continue! The program is one hour (50 minutes) per week for six weeks. Clubs are not required. If your child brings his own clubs, we would like to emphasize the importance of clubs that fit - a factor that could make or break your child's interest in golf.

We Use SNAG

WHAT is SNAG?

SNAG falls somewhere between miniature golf and regulation golf.  Developed by former PGA Tour players, SNAG contains all the basic elements of golf, but in a modified form. SNAG adds fun to the learning and playing experience by utilizing simplified rules and terminology. SNAG offers full shots, chipping and putting. The SNAG ball has a limited distance with the average player hitting it a maximum 50 yards. This is an absolute perfect fit for the 5-8 age range and we are very excited about adding it to our program. SNAG is the product used by The First Tee for many of it's after-school or in-school programs.

HOW do you play?

SNAG utilizes 2 clubs: the Launcher, used to hit, pitch and chip the ball. And the Roller, used to roll the ball in the "short stuff". All shots other than putting are played off a small rubber mat called the Launch Pad. The SNAG ball is slightly smaller than a tennis ball and is covered with loop material. The target is called the Flagsticky, which is made of a hook material. Unlike golf where you finish out by putting the ball into a hole, in SNAG you SNAG out by sticking your ball to the Flagsticky. In addition to the SNAG basic equipment, there are training tools and targets that makes learning as much fun as playing. SNAG will be used for Junior lessons and clinics and is a great party idea. Call for details.

Where can I purchase junior golf equipment?

you can purchase golf equipment through Copper Hill Golf Acaedemy or online in our web store. In our opinion the time invested in choosing the right golf clubs is easily as important as the time invested in learning to play.

If my child is 7 or 8 should he/she enroll in Future Pros or a Tiger Camp?

The answer to this question is decided by a variety of factors, attention span, experience with golf, physical stamina, availability. We rely on the judgment of the parent to make this decision. It has been our experience, however, that 7 and 8 year olds are very able to handle the half day Tiger Camp.
